Throughout his life Mr. Marley served in the National Guard from November of 1954 to June of 1959. Mr. Marley loved being a truck driver and was known over CB radio as "Mr. Kool with a K". He was also a member of the Teamsters; Local 391. JR enjoyed cooking, dancing (especially shag), fishing, and watching golf on TV on Sunday afternoons. However, his real passion was traveling. During his life time he visited nearly every state in the continental United States. He toured the country for almost a decade before settling down In Advance, NC. As the years continued, JR's health declined and as his disease progressed it became apparent that outside assistance was needed to handle his day to day care. Valerie's mark of excellence in this world will forever live in spirit for those who have lost her. Anyone whoever interacted with Valerie as their teacher in her 10 years in two of the Davie County public schools where she guided many young minds in their formative years in life may fondly remember her. Each and every person who ever interacted with Valerie in our 51 years living in Davie County will also recall the genuine caring empathy she always gave anyone she came in contact with. I would like to remind each of you to mark in your memory that you had the distinct pleasure of'meeting an Angel on Earth'. For those so inclined Valerie would request that you mark her passing with a donation to the Davie County Public Library in her name. Valerie traveled with me in my military assignments in Germany, Vietnam (in spirit), and Missouri. Valerie and I with our two young children selected Mocksville as the place to raise them because it was a mirror image of our birthplace in Pennsylvania. Valerie's first focus was always for our young children. During our early years in Davie County, Valerie provided library services to county residents via the Davie County library bookmobile. Valerie guided many students into computer literacy with e\'ening classes at the Davie/Davidson Community College. Valerie's artistic and creative talent was experienced by others most vividly during her multi year membership in the Mocksville Methodist Church Quilting group. Valerie served on and was former President of the Davie Count}- Library Board. She was a Master Gardner, a beekeeper, and was active in many Davie County 'Arts Alive' festivals. Valerie taught senior Yoga in the Davie County Senior Center, as well as Yoga and step- aerobics at the Mocksville YMCA. In her spare time she was a vital help to me in my farming passion on our farm in Davie County. Online condolenees may be made at www.eatonfuneralservice.eom. Davie Coui Pill: ^ocksvjJie^ /VQ H o ri *.0 UJ ft/lay 29,1941-December 9,2023 ^ Bermuda Run, North Carolina - David Vernon Liner passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on December 9,2023 at the age of 82 following a spirited battle to continue living with leukemia. A retired attorney, devoted husband and father, and a doting grandfather, he ieft a cache of memo ries for those fortunate enough, to know him and a .lasting legacy in the nine grandchildren he adored and tirelessly fought to see mature. David was born in High Point, North Carolina to Rever end and Mrs. Roy Samuel Liner on May 29.1941. He spent his youth in Charlotte and Greensboro where his love of sports emanated from his early success as a basketball player for Grimsley High .School. After graduation, Davjd attended Wake Forest University earning a Bachelor's degree in biology in 1963. His love for children and thirst for knowledge led him to spend the next year teaching academically gifted children math and science before dedicating two years to traveling as an ambassador for the Atomic Energy Commission. Wandering was not David's ambition. An excellent comrnunicator, he returned to Wake Forest University in 1966 and entered law school to fulfill his passion for helping others. Graduating with his Juris Doctor degree in 1969, David began practicing law in Winston-Salem and maintained great success in private practice until his retire ment in 2012. Although retired, he resolved to remain current and committed to the evolving .. ... . changes in the practice of law, ultimately retiring his license after 50 years. David met the love ofhis life in 1986. He and Sallye enjoyed 32 years together, often sharing that their lives were "rewritten" on May 19; 1991 when they joined their families together. The success of their marriage came from a mutual admiration and devotion'to supportina one another m their roles in their home and careers. In the early years of their marriage, they spent countless hours dedicated to their teenage children. While Sallye was present to cheer, you would always find David standing proudly at the top of any stands with a video camera in his hand. The pride he felt for their three children extended to his wife in her professional accomplish ments. .often calling their children to, report "his buttons were pbpping ofi=". Content in his home, David knew of Sallye's love for travel. He was a phenomenal historian and used his expertise to plan many unforgettable adventures that took the two of them across America and abroad. With nine athletic grandchildren. David and Sallyefs travels turned to local fields and gyms again in recent years. No matter the destination, they aiways enjoyed the journey the most. For those that witnessed their daily love for one another, it was a.beautiful exarnple of a marriage that was, rewarding, gratifying, joyful, and secure, with each day ending by exchanging the vow,, "I loved you all day." Of all the titles he earned, his greatest delight was the title of Popi For 18 years he has basked in.the successes of his nine grandchildren from their first steps to their accomplishments on and off the fields As most grandparents do. he was always eager to.share his latest "buttbn popping" moment with anyone who would listen Pool's quick wit and.humor extended to his relationship with each of "His nine" through fun banter, quotable reminders, and adoring nicknames. . His affection for them eventually led him to label them the Magnificent Nine, cementing, his legacy with a grand title as only a Popi would do. In his own words, "The nine grands have given me the ultimate joy. contentment, and pride" David IS survived by his loving wife. Sallye; children, Marcus David (Sabrina), Jason Matthew (Melissa), and Lindsey Michelle Bouchard (Chief Master Sergeant Nathan Bouchard. USAF); his nine grandchildren. Olivia Bouchard, Chase Liner.
