She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Richard Reifsnider, Surviving are her 4 children, Matt Reifsnider (Maria), Jessica Wilson (Jeff), Sara Brown (Mike), Sam Reifsnider (Tara) and sister, Pat Hunter (Sid). Reynolds Hospice Home. He was bom June 11,1938 in Davie county to the late James Sandiy Zimmerman, Sr. and Erma Carter Zimmerman. Jimmy was a retired builder and an avid fisherman. He loved spending time in the NC mountains and at Lake Norman catching stripers. He also enjoyed spending time with his longtime friends enjoying live music. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Luther Zimmerman. Ellen, as she was so lovingly known as, was born on April 21, 1951, in Cherokee County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Harold King and Mozelle (Morrow) King. In addition to her mother and father, Ellen was preceded in death by two brothers Harold King, Jr., and Johnny King. In life, Ellen earned an associate degree from college and graduated from Davidson County Schools. She chose a career in healthcare and was a dietary director at Centerclair Nursing Home for many years. In 1966 Ellen married her husband David Louis Edwards in York County, SC. As a Christian woman, Ellen was a member of Guiding Light Baptist Church in Davie County. O Roderick Tyrone Martin September 29, 1959 - April 9, 2023 o Roderick Tyrone Martin's journey began September 29, 1959 in Davie County, North Carolina. He was born the son of Rosa Lee Martin and Robert Gaither. On the morning of Saturday April 8 2023, he transitioned and went to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is the most difficult time for our family; as we give thanks for the years we were blessed with his physical presence. E-Man as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Davie County public schools, after attending high school he join the United States Army and then went on to attend Forsyth Technical Community College, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While at Forsyth Technical Community College, he majored in Mechanics, Blue Printing and Truck Driving. He was ultimately self-employed as a mechanic. Roderick was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church Mocksville, North Carolina. Since a young man, you could find Roderick working on cars. Roderick was always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellowman and was the neighborhood "Mechanic" for those who enlisted his services. He was a self-taught artist always drawing something incredible. Roderick also had a love for motorcycles. Roderick was preceded in death by his brother Marcus Gaither. A life filled with warmth, and loving memories will forever be treasured by his family and friends. Joe learned the value of hard work at a young age. but balanced it with a sense of humor and a zest for life. Shelton White, while they were enjoyed almost 73 beautiful years together before her passing in 2020. True to his roots, Joe spent his entire career in the dairy industry. He staned at Biltmore Dairy, working his way up from a route driver delivering milk in glass bottles to peo ple's homes to a route manager to a sales representative. A gifted salesman. Joe never met a stranger and treated everyone with equal respect. He retired from Flavorich in 1992. Joe was a devoted member of Courtney Baptist Church in Yadkinville for more than 60 years and served as a dea con, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superinten dent, and sang in the choir. If the church doors were open, he was there for as long as he was physically able. He also gave his time and talents to benefit the com munity. A lifelong member of the Mocksville Lions Club, Joe joined a few months after It chartered and was proud to be its longest and oldest member. Over 66 years. Joe served in local and district offices and was an international Association of Lions Club delegate in 1982. He was rec ognized as a Jack Stickley Fellow in 1998, Melvin Jones Fellow in 2(X)3, and Lion of the Year in 2004. Joe was equally dedicated to the Farrainglon Ruritan Club, where he participated in every meeting, project, and fundraiser for as long as he was able. Sim, he earned a National Defense Service Medal achieving the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer with an honorable discharge. After his military service, Boyd was employed at RJ Reynolds where he began his career at Bailey Power Plant. He eventually became a Senior Supervisor at the Tobaccoville Power Plant before retiring in 2001. In 2010, Boyd had a cabin built in Miller's Creek, North Carolina and spent a lot of his time enjoying nature and working to beautify the surrounding acreage. He and his wife, Deborah, permanently moved to Miller's Creek in 2021. Shirley was involved in church from the age of 13 and grew in her walk with the Lord throughout her life. Carl and Shirley were active members of the Methodist Church throughout their mturiage. The First United Methodist Church in Mocksville was their home church for 35 years, and they often participated in the music activities of the cliurch. Shirley had a lovely voice and was a vital part of the family band. The Wicker Pickers, which included Carl on banjo, their three sons. Daniel on guitar. Ronald on bass, and their youngest son, Leslie, on mandolin. They played Bluegrass, Folk, and Gospel through the 1970s. Always intelligent and personable. Shirley put her skills to use as she and husband Carl became owners of the Western Auto store in Mocksville in 1979. The cou ple endeared themselves to the Mocksville community for 12 successful years until they retired. It was then Shirley learned to play guitar and she and Carl began perform ing together as the Wicker Pickers Duo. Shirley focused on writing her own songs. 20 of which are copyrighted and cataloged in the library of congress. She sang, played, and recorded many of her original songs. They considered it their ministry to entertain for area rest homes at which they performed 155 times. During their retirement years she enjoyed extensive traveling by RV. enjoying winter trips to Florida, where they often performed their music to ?l'elcoming crowds. Carl was a private pilot and they both enjoyed fl ying around the state. Shirley was actively in volved with the Davie County Arts Council for four years, and served as 2nd year secretary. 3rd year vice president, and 4th year president. This was only one example of a life of .service to her communities. Shirley was a beauti ful woman inside and out. She was a loving and devoted wife for 66 >'ears to Carl, who loved to call her his South ern Belle. Her love and trust of God carried her through her fi ve-year battle with cancer. This period deepened her relationship with Jesus, and she knew He would provide for her needs until the end. Shirley was known throughout her life for her soft personality and gentle Spirit. Shirley demonstrated a Christlike, selflessness in every aspect of her life. She had a beautiful soprano voice and had the lead in several high school musicals. After graduation, she sang with the American Opera Company in Washington, D.C., and continued singing solos in several church choirs. Mrs. Walburn worked briefly with the telephone company before marrying her first husband, Daniel Wheeler, Sr. and becoming a home maker and mother to their three children. Dana, James, and Daniel, Jr. She babysat in the home for many years and took care of many children. Mrs. Walburn then became a teacher's aide (TA), first for special education children and then students at risk in an alternate school. Having an amazing gift to connect with troubled youth, she worked as a TA for over 30 years, retiring in 2016. In 1990, she married Charles Walburn and they lived in Northern Virginia before relocating to NC last spring. Mrs. Walburn loved to paint and go on painting retreats with her sister, Amelia and many of her painting friends. She loved to cook and bake - especially chocolate chip cookies and sour cream cakes, and have her family all together. The highlight every year for her was the annual family beach trip to Emerald Isle, with her children and grandchildren. He was educated in the Rowan County school system, served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman, and was a member of Cooleemee United Methodist Church. Jimmy was employed by the V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury for nearly 30 years, where he served as President of Local 1738 of the American Federation of Government Employees for 20 years. After his retirement, he was elected and re-elected as National Vice President of A.F.G.E. for four terms, before his retirement in 2000. He spent most of his adult life helping those who could not help themselves. In his earlier years, Jimmy coached Little League baseball and Y.M.C.A. football and basketball in the Woodleaf community. He enjoyed watching and following all sports, especially the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves. He loved playing golf and working in his yard, in which he took much pride. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Harkey; and two brothers, Billy and Charles Whitman. Known by "Tom" or "T.J." by friends and family, he spent his earliest years in Mobile, Alabama to his most recent times in Bermuda Run, North Carolina. After Tom served in the Korean War with the Air Force, he traveled for work throughout the years, specializing in radio communications and writing manuals for the latest technologies, like one of the most cutting-edge land-line phones. His retirement from AT&T after 45 years of service left him in Bermuda Run, where he was active in the annual (former) Crosby & Hospice Golf Tournaments and enjoyed weekly evenings at the Country Club for Bingo and other events. Tom was an avid Auburn University Alumni, and a long-time "transplant" UNO Chapel Hill fan (thanks to his late fanatical Tarheel wife. Gay Swaim King). Sport activities and celebrations were part of his life, often attending games or viewing parties with friends, laughing and cheering the night away! Gardening, reading, and spending time with family are other hobbies and favorite pastimes. He was 68 years old, Terry married Theresa Carter in 1973 and they remained married for 50 years. He honored our country and served in the United States Army where he earned a purple heart and the national defense service medal while in the Vietnam War. Steve continued to develop professionally and truly dis played his reliability and loyalty to the industry, but most importantly, his customer network. Steve was an excellent mechanic who also enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing, and classic cars, especially his very own '57 Chevy. Steve was an active member of North Main Street Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon. Steve was always willing to lend a helping hand, was loyal, and reliable to anyone he encountered. Most of all, Steve enjoyed spending time with his children, and loved playing pranks on them. His children brought out a smile which would be with him for ever. He was surrounded by Jean, beloved wife of 63 years, two loving sons and daughter. His journey through this life began on November 7,1936. Along the way he demonstrated an incredible balance between being a devoted husband, father and professional. He leaves behind a legacy of professional accolades and achievements throughout a stellar and purpose-filled career. David was a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church and a resident of Bermuda Village Retirement Community. David was the only child of the late David Henry Reilly, Jr., and Ethel Alt Reilly. Born in Paterson, NJ, he graduated from Eastern Christian Academy in Prospect Park, NJ and the University of Vermont. While at UVM, David joined the US Marine Corps and served a six-year commitment in the Reserves. There he also met Jean, the love of his life. They married in 1960. After earning his masters and doctorate degrees from Rutgers University, he embarked on a career in education and psychology. David began his professional life at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1965 as the chairman of its School Psychology Department. In 1974 he became Dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he retired as a professor in 1992. He spent the next 10 years at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., as the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies before fully retiring from professional life. David's career highlights included numerous chairmanships and presidencies at the state and national level. He served as president of the North Carolina Psychology Association, the North Carolina School Psychology Association and as an executive committee member of the American Psychological Association. He was a two-time Senior Fulbright Scholar; first in the Republic of Cyprus (1986) and then in the Republic of Georgia (1990), Throughout his career, David authored and co-authored many professional articles and books. He passionately conducted research and continued to learn and write for the remainder of his life. Although he committed his career to education and psychology, David/Skip/Dad/Daddy/Papa/Big Papa committed his life to his family. He was a hero to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all, he was devoted to Jean and the life they enjoyed into a seventh decade. Whether participating in YMCA programs. Cub Scouts or coaching numerous sports, David actively supported his children's interests and rarely missed a game, recital or swim meet. The memories of countless fishing trips, white water rafting adventures, camping experiences and family vacations will be cherished (and the source of many laughs) for a long time to come. NC passed on June 30th, ^ IB Dr"Aronson was born Nov 26. 1922 in Norwich. NY to Donald S. and ^ Marcia. Pie was predeceased by his wife Christine, his second \\'ife Jeanne sL Wesley, his brother S\dne\' and b> a son, Peter. • He graduated from Norwich High School in 1939, the University of Michigan in 1945 and SUNY Downstate School of Medicine in 1948. Phil and his brother Syd were faithful Michigan alumni and enjoyed watching rivalrv' events against Ohio State, particularly on the gridiron. On his 99th birthday and again on his hundredth birthday, he had the pleasure of watching Michigan's football team defeat Ohio State, and on both occasions was surrounded by children and grandchildren. During his years of education he also served as a decorated veteran of the US Naval Air Corps in both World War II and the Korean conflict. After receiving his MD. he worked as an intern in Cleveland and then as a resident in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital, including time spent at the Thorndike Heart Station. After this he had a practice in Norwich, during which time he was also on the faculty of SUNY Upstate School of Medicine in Syracuse. His patients in Norwich loved him and brought him gifts from their homes and farms. If they couldn't afford to pay, they weren't charged. Despite his benevolence, he was able to support his four children through college and even medical school. A ver> active man. he was an avid and competitive tennis and squash pla>er. he shot skeet and bred English Setter hunting dogs and kept a few quarter horses. Of the horses, his pride and joy w as Red King fw ist, w ho became a national champion of the American Quarter Horse Association as a tw o-> ear-old. He had a wonderful cadre of golf buddies, all of whom he had to sa>' goodb} e to at one time or another. During the long w inters, bow ling was also a major interest; starting as a "pin setter", he eveiituall> won two ABC-sanctioned tournaments. He also took his family skiing frequenth". After many >'ears of practice in Nonvich, he moved to Winston-Salem to become a faculty member at Wake Forest's Bow man Gray School of Medicine. There he served as the director of the Physician's Assistant training program, re writing the cardiology syllabus and also writing a book titled "Bedside Cardiology". He received several teaching awards, and also served as director of the hypertension clinic in the former Reynolds Health Center. Survivors include son Dr. Stuart Aronson, wife Vaune and family of Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Michael Aronson, wife Jane and family of Blacksburg, VA. Thomas Aronson, wife Michelle and family of Oak Ridge, NC, and daughter Sarah Bishop, husband Tom and family of Roanoke, VA. This includes 9 grandchildren. Riley. Peter, Sophie, Zoe, Ben, and Jackson Aronson as well as Philip, Grace and Kate Bishop. Surviving .step-children are Robert Wesley Jr. and family of Winston-Salem, NC. Stephen Wesley of Louisville, KY, Ann Ramsey and family of Richmond. VA. and Barbara Bagby and family of Richmond. VA. This includes step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Phil Aronson was a brilliant and caring pin sician. a devoted husband and father, a friendK'. outgoing man w ith a ready smile, and a great friend to those who had the privilege to know him. He made the world a better place eveiy da\'. Memories of him w ill comfort us and cany us fonvard. A Memorial Service w ill be held at the Hayworth-Miller Kindenon Chapel in Advance. NC on Wednesda\. July 5th at 2 pm.
