SEVENTH n DAY ADVENTISTS
MEET IN NEW CHURCH
TTie congregation of the
Seventh-day Adventists have
been using the Luthern Church
for their Sabbath services since
their church was organized
here in 1962, but now they
have their building far enough
along to completion so that it
is possible for them to meet in
their own place of worship.
^This they did for the first time
on Saturday,'January 11.
The" president of the
' Carolina Conference of
^ Seventh-day Adventists, from
' the Conference office in
^ Charlotte, N. C., was present
and occupied the" pulpit. The
regular pastor was present, and
assisted in the morning service.
Every member was present for
this first seryice, with, the
'^"exception of two, who ' were
' not able /. to be" present on

was Dr. B. L. Richards, one of j
the charter members, and
whose leadership in the church
has been a great inspiration in
getting this property on Milling
Road the present building to
its present state.
The actual building as it
stands today, will eventually
become the educational unit,
• but there is an assembly room
, that is adequate for the
' congregation at present, and
this room will be used for
church services, pending the
erection at some later date of i
the permanent sanctuary, at I
the front of the present
structure. There are two other
rooms for Sabbath school use |
of the youth and children, one I
of which is being used at j
present for a church school, I
which the churcli maintains.
The church school is under the
direction of Miss Ruth Lynette
Pitlman.
Regular services will be
conducted each Sabbath
(Saturday), and friends and
visitors are cordially invited to
attend. Sabbath school at ,
10:00 o'clock, and the regular
morning service at 11:00,
o'clock.

He is a graduate of Andrews University at Berrien
Springs, Mich., and Seventh-day Adventist Theological
Seminary at Washington, D.C.
The pastor is married to the former Barbara Jean
Smith of Springfield, 111., and they have two children;
Lisa Kay, 10, and Joel Duane, 6. The family lives
at 3475 N. Lee Street, N.W.
Peterson was president of the Ministers' Association
in Columbus. He also had his own weekly radio program,
"Moments of Meditation," while in Illinois. He had
television devotions in Decatur, 111, and Chicago and
has written a number of articles for his denominational
papers.
In the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the ministers '
*1^ not addressed as the reverend, but are referred
to as pastors or elders.

A native of Silesia, Eastern
Germany, has been announced
as the new minister of the
Mocksville Seventh-day Ad-
ventist Church
Elder K. WiUfried Kowarsch
came to America with his
family in 1952 and settled in
Biuffton, S. C. His present
residence is in Statesvilie.
Elder Kowarsch studied for
the ministry at Southern
Missionary ' College, near
Chattanooga, Tennessee and
did post-graduate studies at
Andrews University, - Berrien n
Springs, Michigan.
Since completing his studies,
Elder Kowarsch has held
pastorates in Aiken and
Horence, S. C. and in Kinston,
N. C. He will be the pastor of
the church here, as well as the
one in Statesvilie.
He said his family lost all
their personal property in
Silesia as a result of World War
II and came to this country
shortly after the war ended.
Elder Kowarsch is married to
the former Dian Garren of
Asheville, N. C. She graduated
from Columbia Union College, ,
Washington. D. C., having ,
studied In the areas of i
Secretarial Science, Education
and Home Economics. She <
enjoys promoting vegetarian ]

three children. ' ;
"I believe the church exists,
for the good of the community,"
said Elder Kowarsch, "and I
believe only the second coming
of Jesus Christ will bring a final
solution for the problems which
face modern man."
