The public is invited to' attend. The following article was used earlier to explain the new parsonage: For two years the Rev. Doc Hobson drove at least twice weekly from East Bend to theYadkin Valley Baptist Churchon the Yadkin V^ley Church Road just across the Yadkiit. River in Davie County. ' Now, however, he and his family have moved into the community and live in the. lovely and spacious new parsonage of the church. Set in the quiet peacefulness of the Valley Road, tlie brick rancher has a living room. dining room>den, kitchen, three bedrooms, two baths, a utility room and a two-car carport. Its full basement houses a study, playroom, bath and an inside garage. As with all construction the building of the parsonage was not without its trouble. The first well that was dug filled up so with quicksand that even the pump could not be recovered. The building committee composed of Bobby Sheek,. Wilbur West, Jim Zimmerman, Sr., Ruby McBride, Ginger Holt and chairman, Elmer Hendrix took this and other problems in Stride. The ladies of the church had several meetings at which they chose the carpet, tile, drapes, wall paper.jgitJ appljaucea. The main color scheme used is |green with the kitchen' appliances of avocado and : avocado tiled floor. j The members of the Yadkin ■Valley Baptist Church are |extremely proud of their jparsonage and tliey have every I right to feel proud. Perhaps ^ one of the most extraordinary 'things about the house is that, jalthough it was only recently !completed, it is completely I paid for. This is due to the members who so generously donated time, labor, money, and materials. { The Rev. If ^ DAVIE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RECORD, Thursday, Aug. 18,2005 Hard Feelings Linger in church Rift By Mike Gunning Davie County Enterprise Record Former members of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church continue to ask the Rev. Ronnie Craddock to respond to requests to join them in mediation, and work to wards a reconciliation that will allow them to return to the church many have called home for decades. According to a letter ad dressed to Craddock, and cop ied to several members of the church, Craddock has chosen not to respond to members re quest of reinstatement, and has refused to meet the former pa rishioners half way. "In order to bridge the gap that exists, we propose meeting with a mediator to discuss the differences and look for resolu tion to this conflict," W. Kirk Sanders, the Winston-Salem at torney representing the ousted members, wrote. "As Christians, one can only wonder how God would react to the division of his flock in this manner. Surely God would want all sides in this con troversy to come to the same table with open arms and hope to share brotherly love with one and all." For some, Craddock's lack of response to long-time members' requests has taken its toll. "I've had enough, I don't care what they do up there any more," Larry Parker, who was a member of the church' for 40 years, said. "I told a preacher friend of mine just this weekend, the whole thing has just about turned me around on organized religion." Others feel the experience has caused a rift in the surround ing community. "There are lifelong friend ships that have been damaged by this," Wayne Hamilton, another longtime member said. "This has divided the community." Hamilton, who just returned home after a three week stay in the hospital in which he had to have a leg amputated, said he was still saddened by the ac tions. Craddock did not return calls requesting an interview. Davii County Public Mooksvilte, Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery Pages 16 - 23 >- j -z o V- VC? _ .
