DEATH OF J. W,:• MARTIN �
On Tuesday morning, Septem-
ber 16, about eleven o'clock, the I
death angels invaded the Martin
home, near Concord M. E. Church
and took the sweet soul of John
Wesley Martin to that mansion
above prepared for Gods saints.
His death came after a period
of long illness in which every-
thing known to medical science
was done to restore him back to
health and strength. His going
was- not sudden and he was a
great sufferer for sometime, but
he endured the pain with great
patience. You never heard him
complain. His home and his heart
were always open to anyone who
visited him and his family and -
their company was acknowledged
with great cheer. He apprecia",`
" everything that was done, the lit-
tle things as well as the big. He
had a large circle of friende
whom he Ioved and who Ioved him
because of his general disposi-
tion. There is an empty place in
the home and a vacant place in
the community. His words: "I
am ready to die." Ais wife who
survives him in the happy con-
ciousness- of * having done what
she could to fill his last days with
quiet and comfort.
Mr. Martin was 79 years of age.
Ple was barn March 2, 1851, near f
Bethel in Davie County. During
,his life he was married three
times. First to Miss Mary Jane'
Daniels, March 4, 1874 and she o
departed this life September 14,
1879. To this union were born
three children, two of whom died
while infants, and the other, Mrs.
A. F. Pickier, of Salisbury pass-
ed away a few months ago. Se-
cond to Miss: Margarett Star,
May 12, 1883, and she departed
II this life October 6, 1897. To this
union -were born five -children, all
of whom are living, Mr. J. F.
Martin, of Hickory, Mrs. J. H.
Thompson, of near Spencer, Mrs.
S. D. Daniels, of this place, Mr.
B. E. Martin, of Salisbury and
Mrs. E. D. Kimmer, of near Spen-
cer. Third he was married to
Mrs". Maggie Deadmon, December
21, 1914, who survive him. To
this union was born one child,
Mary Ifrances who also survives.
Those surviving are, his wife,
Maggie , two sister^, Mrs. G. W.
Cope, of this place and Mrs. Lee
Hopkins, of near Bethel, six chil-
d,ren, 23 grandchildren and 2
,great grandchildren,

ed by Rev. A. G. Loftin.
The active pall -bearers were:

Paul Cope. The flower girls were
Addie Mae and -Annie Lee Mar-
tin, Margaret, Belle and Minnie

Sue and Beulah Foster and Mar-
