I have thought of a great many things but won't ask all of them of you
naw. Some I am sure will be abswered in Pink Tatum's book - if I get one.
Remember, you didn't send me Pink's address but think I asked that in my
last letter. I'm real anxious to hear from her.
At one time you sent me a,.photo copy of John Fox and Catherine Hinkel who
were married in 1883 and which included one daughter by the name of Amelia
that married Benjamin Eaton. Could you look at your copy and give me the
birth date of the last five children also the name of the 10th child. My
copy is too blurred. Thank you.
We've had good weather for five days. ley husband has gotten quite brown but
all I do is freckle and I did get a little burned yesterday. However, the
weather has turned cloudy and looks like rain so I imagine we will be on
our Way home soon. Vh.en I called our daughter I told her to expect us about
Tues. or Wed. This is a beautiful spot - very rugged mountains - some are
colored a dark red, others beige and all covered with a very light green -
some kind of a vegetation because of the rain they have had. This man made
lake is very large - takes in many acres and miles of this desert country.

Joseph Matthews, also in the fiv, pound group of heAirs, was a brother -in
law whose second via�fc was Lydia iaton, sister of Peter Eaton, as recorded
in the New Britain baptist C,,urch minutre..s,� Bucks moo. Penn. The Matthew'
sons were Joseph Jr. and John i''atthews were among those who gave
receipts for their "share of the estae of Peter Baton, deceased".
Rec_:ipts were also given by tt:e children of Ebenezer and Eve Eaton- byLt
sons John and James}. daughters Ci;gbherine M, Cynthia, LyddL * and .sons-in-
lw Benjamin 6arnerfwho had marries Margaret Baton in 179 & and Abijah
Irvin, husband of Elizabeth .4aton.
Another ident14ed heir was Catherine Eaton, sister to Peter, "benezeL,
James and Lydia Eaton ( Matthews). The word "sister" was writbn on her
receipts.
The receipts were apparently, for what was called "shares" in the Eaton
esate and were for money received- sometimes with interest. The money
was to come from the sale of unwilled property and was to be divided
equally between the wife °arah ( a second wife) and his brothers and
sisters children.
The relationship of all the above named individuals to the maker of the w
will, have been definitely documented.
Howeve-., similar identification on the other heirs is, either entirely
lacking or too doubtful for forming any postive conclusions as to why
they were included in the will.
The ones for whom no information has been found are: E,ith Kimbrouch who
was willec furniture, horse, etc, CGtherine -hannon wille�- five rounds
and the following whose receipts ofr "shares" are on file at B.vtg `'ounty
Library. Robert E. Shannon, Peter Vastine, "orothy Vastine,
Elizabeth Morris and Joseph T. Miller.
For the several remaining heirs we have only marriage bonds, which may or
maw not apply and one or two wills in Bucks and Rowan counties.
"The unknowns who were to receive five pounds were: Robert Clark, Alsa
`'lark, relatiomship not stated. This -"urry `'o. N.C• marriage bond may
apply. Robert Clark and Alsa Howell Oct. 30, 1786.

lobs of daffodils to be used by her church in decorating for a banquet

a friend's house.

Velma got home, they found that Margaret had been carried to hospital
by a neighborhood friend.

Devie County. - As it happens, I had some notes on Greasy Corner, which` I discovered I had
never had typed up. so I fo nd them and got the job done by our volunteer

Your letter did arrive on time and l appreciated int, but about that time I
learned that '4r. Carnes, pastor here, was resigning to take up work at "enoir
and, though i had been knowning it would come soow, ' still w}s not prepared
for the way it hit me!
Hewevedl�- I was recovering from that blow suggicientiy to sit down and write you
folks a Davie County newsle€ter, when Kitty called -.me one morning to tell me
that Annie "all had entered the hospital because of a "blockage", As tests an
abd an exploratory operation showed, that blcockage was due to a rapid
growth that seems to have involved most of the abdominal organs* finyway, th
took out no organs and told the famiay that they would attempt no treatment
for .-.e condition.
She is in tprsyth I"lemorial Hospital. Had sever gas pains after the oper-
ation, but Kitty toldus yesterday that Jack had seen her in the morning and s
she appeared comforgable, cheerful.
Hazel Ilizabeth hopes that she will recover sufficiently, for the operation,
to be taken out to her house.
How long? I do not know.
This past year, beginning with an operation on Charles Burrus Jr. ,last June
for removal of a maliginant mole, has been pretty awful. But we go on until
each of us, until our own particular train stops.
"ith the going of '`Ir. ''arnes, lots of my jobs as church clerk? S.S, sec. and
general unpaid worker :round the church, will stop.
I am not on the current pulpit committee, and will at least, J.not feel the
personal caneenn and res ponsibility for the next man that did for this

personal concern.
Bill „ngel is interm pastor as he was six years ago, and he is good, we enjoy
his sermons very much, I realize that preaching teice on lundays is about all

Last week Philip Kendrick's wife came calling - she and Sophie Meroneyf
and her daughter, Grace, is interested in family history, but too many
home duties to be at it.
Alsb, last week the executor of Duke Jheek began clearing out the cheek

papers- Davie 'ounty and other towns, scrape books etc.. I finally
got t e newspapers separates into those we wanted to keep and the onec
that did not belong in our history room.
Now, am farming out the thousands of clippings- one% an Davie County
from the Lyndon Johnson, Kennedy, Hoover, roya 1 family of England,
Goldwater etc. etc. etc.

I am copying Nettie's card. Sent the original on to Grace.
"Well she is doing real good. They had her up walking yesterday.
They let her night nurse go and she didn't rest too good. She is wanting
her back. She sends her love. I think she is doing real well. I will
write again soon. With Love. Nettie".
She is doing much better that I thought she could. I haven't heard anything
from Howard. Guess my letter wasn't what he wanted to hear.

"Zacharius was Pope of Rome from 1741 - 1752, followed by Pope Gregory 111.
Zacharias or Zachary was born in Greene, lived in Southern Italy. I will
saad you a copy when I can get it copied.

I didn't cash it. Thought I would come down this winter, buy $10.00 worth
of CHEESE", and study more in the Library.
I got a copy of the family of Henry Clay Zachary. It was Zeroxed from the
family and the writing is just beautiful. I can't wait for you to see it.
Why don't you get busy and tie up with Nathaniel? You know they all came
from the same place.
I heard from Rmin London. They said the man in charge of geneologies
was on vacation and they would write me about Tatums and Eatons when he
came back to work.
