Your lettervin re Munson and Van Cleave arrived just days
after the copies of Volume 2 of the Index of North Carolina
Ancestors.
You will note from enclosures that I am enmeshed in a 250th
Anniversary celebration for Daniel Boone - which has consumed
most of my time and a Good deal of my money. It will all be over
by November, and then I'll be able to check the old Rowan County
North Carolina records and see if I can locate anything that has
not come to your attention.
The major problem for all of us whose ancestors "camped"
briefly in the North Carolina Piedmont before they went off
to Kentucky and beyond, is ouite simply that they left little
trace of themselves here - perhaps a land purchase and sale,
some brief anntion in the Minutes of the Rowan County Court of
Pleas and Quarter Sessions or perhaps a burial in a local,cem-
etery.
The local source for Baptist Church records is the
BAPTIST HISTORICAL COLLECTION, The Z. Smith Reynolds Library,
Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
When this Daniel Boone thing is over, I'll be able to do
a research for you in our Rowan County records, and I may find
something that has not come to your attention.
