Dear Mr. Boone:
Through Frances Casstevens of Yadkinville, N.C., I learned you
might be connected with the HOWELL family of Yadkin C89 as I am.
I understand the Howell family intermarried with the Boone and
Bryan families of early NC and am wonderingif you can give me
any information concerning my HOWELL line of Yadkin CO. My grand-
mother, Mary Premelia HOWELL Jones, b. 1851 "at the foot of Brushy
Countain" south of Jonesville, was the youngest child of THOMAS.
B. HOWELL b. 1815 and Sarah Ann Hicks, b. 1818--they were married
Dec. 129 1634 and had several other children besides my grandmother--
Sarah, Henry Welborn, James, Tillotson and Almede. THOMAS HOWELL
was a Baptist preacher, preaching at Swaims Chapel, Swan Crxfk Baptist
church, where the family were members and several other country Bap-
tist churches--I have the "minutes" o3 the Swan Creek Church from
1839-1868 when Thomas and Sarah and their five children came to
Kansas by way of Arkansas and Missouri--arriving in Elk CO. Kansas
near Longton and Oak Valley in 1873. THOMAS HOWELL died in 1875
and both he and Sarah are buried in the Oak Valley cemetery. I feel
sure THOMAS HOWELL'S parents were ROBERT b. 1782 and REBECCA ?, U-1785
Robert and Rebecca had several other children besides Thomas--
Robert Gordon, frequently mentioned in the church minutes, also
Jasper, besides several girls.
I am searching for the father of ROBERT HOWELL, father of THOMAS
HOWELL and wonder if he could be TKOMAS HOWELL b. 17509 d. 1791,
_ m. Rebecca Locke. I thought the HOWELL family was Scotch-Irish,
but have been told HOWELL is Welsh--I was in Wales this summer and
3 noted HOWELL was a common name there. Seeing that HOWELL is your
given name, I wondered if there might be a connections my HOWELL
family were from Yadkin CO and the BOONE family also lived there
during the early days of NC.
If you have any information concerning my HOWELL line, I would
appreciate hearing from you and will be glad to pay any expense or
hcz time involved. When is the celebration commemorating Daniel
