Dear Mrs Henry: 02 May 1985 Thank you so much for writing me with your family line back to 1801 in North Carolina. I assume you do not (yet) have a county for Joel Green born 1801 and married to Anne Hartley. Daniel Boone left the "Forks of the Yadkin" ie present-day Davie County about the year his father, Squire Boone died - 1765. He moved to "the Brushy Mou- ntains" near present-day Ferguson, in Wilkes County. In 1773 he led his first attempt tp Settle Kentucky; this attempt was abandoned after his son and five othe: youths were brutally murdered by Shawnees. Daniel then settled his wife and children in Castle's Woods, Vir- ginia in a cabin loaned him by Captain David Gass. Daniel led a successful/#XAf settlement in 1775, and he was in locations in present-day Kentucky and West Virginia until 1799 when he led a group of families t to then Spanish Louisiana - now St Charles County.in Missouri whenehe lived until his death in 1820 -going on hunting-trips as far as Yellowstone I will ese o Green H t n there were never, so far as I know 8allaways in Davie County area - they were Virginians and then Kentucians and so on. 4 u, y P1ic 1.:►brry
