PASSES AWAY; JohnrThomds Baity, G7, one ofMoeluville's most highly esieero-ed xitSzens and fonmer mayor,died at hig homg here on Saturday morning, Oct. 6, after an illness of several weeks followinga stroke of'Taraiysis.' He wasthe' son of tVIlliam Baity andSara <Ann Sprinkle Baity, andwas born in Yadkin county on iAugust 30th, 1868. He spenthis life in the mercantile business, Both in Winston-Saiem andMocksville, and for the past 13years was connected with C. C.Sanford Sons Company. On Kov-emtier 17th, 1898 he w,is marriedto Miss Scdalia Eaton, of thiscounty, and in October 1900 camejto Mocksville to open his mer-'jcantite firm. In earlil life he'joined |he Baptist church, and <always took great interest in itswork, being at the time of his! death a member of the board of,trustees of the Mccksviilc Eap-■tist church. Mr. Baity was aquiet, unassuming gentleman,[but was known for his integrity |jand high ideals, and was devot-Jied to his family. He Is slrvlv-fed by his wife, three daughters,■Mrs. J. P. Newman, of Winston-jSaiem, Miss Hazel Baity, of this.place, who is a member of the-Winston-Saiem school faculty,jMrs. ,W. E. Brown, of Boone; j(two grandchildren, Hazel Eliza-jjbeth Newman and Margaret BaU.|ty Newman, of Winstan-Salcn,jone brother, W. A. Baity, of Tex-|as, and one sister. Mrs. J. V. 'jHowell, of Courtney. The last'rites were held at the home onNorth Main street on Mondaymorning at 10:30, and were conducted by Rev. W. H. Dodd, Rev.J. H. Fulghum, pastor of theBaptist church, and Rev, V.
