MOCKSVILLE—Mr. Bobby Gene Sparks, 89, of Cornatzer Road, died suddenly Sunday, November 6, 2022, at his
home.
He was born on March 19, 1933, in Davie County, to the late Henry Martin and Maggie Hellard Sparks.

with over 20 years of service. He also volunteered with Cornatzer-Dulin Fire Department for over 20 years. He was

Mom was bom to Norman and Loretta Adams on May
29,1936, in Albany, N.Y. She grew up in the Albany area
and married her high school sweetheart, Wesley C. Win
temberg Jr. on Jan. 28,1956. Over the course of 10 years
there were three of us bora, Drew, Kathy, and Wayne. Mom
was a stay-at-home mom, or as she liked to call herself,
a "Household Engineer." As we grew up. Mom actively
participated in our church and other community activities
including the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Once we were
older, she began working outside of the home as a travel
agent allowing her the freedom to travel all over the world.
Following the passing of our dad. Mom found love •
and compassion with Joe Kaiser spending over 20 years
enjoying each other. Once they moved to North Carolina,
her enthusiasm for teaching adult water fitness classes and
children to swim at the YMCA became her passion. Mak-
ing prayer shawls with the ladies of St. Paul's was a gift
as she felt a calling to give to those in need. Mom was an
active member of a local women's group and the lives she
touched with her heartfelt listening and guidance helped to
heal and strengthen them on their lifelong journeys.
Mom's love for life was enhanced and enriched as
her true calling in life was to be a "Grammy." She loved
spending time with her seven grandchildren and six great
grandchildren. She was always quick to pull out her phone
and share a picture or video of them. Her pride and endless
love for them will be forever in their hearts.
Mom is survived by: her cWldren, Drew, Kathy, and
Wayne and their spouses, Dorothy, Mike, and Suzanne; her
7 grandchildren, Nicole, Ashley, Katie, Michael, Doug
las, Daniel, and Skylar; her 6 great-grandchildren, Addie,

Jean Jacquelyn "Jackie" (Aldridge) Juehatz
November 23, 1934 ^ December 6, 2022 (age 88)
Jean Jacquelyn Juehatz, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed a\way peacefully in her sleep Tuesday,
December 6, 2022, at the age of 88. She will be greatly missed but her impact on the world will not be
forgotten.
'Jackie' was born November 23, 1934, in Winston-Saiem, NC, the only child of Herbert and Maye
Aldridge, who both worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Jackie grew up in Winston-Salem, NC,
and a few of the roads in town were cut by her family. The three built a log home at 1313 Oak Grove Road
with the lumber timbered off the land. Jackie graduated from Reynolds High School and the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, she was elected Secretary of the Student Body and Miss
Outstanding Alumna, was a member of the Order of the Valkyries (women's highest academic honor), the
Order of the Old Well, the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, the Women's Honor Council, the Student
Legislature, and was named as a Yackety Yack Beauty (the school yearbook).
After graduating from UNC in 1957, Jackie married Bob Young, and taught English at Durham High where
they soon celebrated the first of four children, Sherri. The family lived in Scotland for one year, where Bob
studied divinity and daughter Terri was born. After returning to North Carolina, the family lived in the
western part of the state where they welcomed sons Robert and Andrew. Jackie served as a pastor's wife
to several churches in the Western Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 1970, the ministry
brought the family to Durham, where Jackie was active in the Duke Chapel Choir, volunteered at the
Botanical Gardens and was a coach/driver/teacher/mom to her kids and their friends. Rarely was her
house empty of kids laughing, eating, and playing. Although Mom was married to the Duke University
ci Chaplain, she enjoyed rooting for the Tar Heels — especially when they were playing Duke.
In 1988, she married Warren Juehatz and the happy couple traveled the world together, with residences in
Bermuda Run, NC, and Shelter Island, New York. They rode elephants in Africa, saw the Pyramids in
Egypt, toured the Great Wall in China, and had long visits to Israel, Mexico, and Alaska. Along the way
they hit every yard sale they could find,
Mom's happy place was her beloved High Rock Lake cottage, which she and her parents built using the
lumber from the land and filled with the love and laughter of five generations of Aldridge's, Simpson's, and
Young's. You cannot count how many folks learned to swim, ski, fish, and boat there. The paddle board
wave wars were especially legendary. Jackie spent many of her last years happily sitting on her screened
in porch at High Rock, a book in her lap and her feisty dog, Jake, at her side. A typical day was spent
watching the boats go by, chatting with fishermen as they cast their lines and hosting loved ones for some
BBQ served with her charming wit. A day on that magical porch fulfilled her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Maye Aldridge; her daughter, Terri and husband,
Joe; and their son, Nicholas.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherri Myers and her husband. Dean; two sons, Robert Young, and his
wife, Julie, and Andrew Young and his wife, Cheri; beloved grandchildren, Dustin Myers, and his wife,
Stephanie, Chris, Tyler, Brooke, Brody, Grade, Cooper, Andy Thompson, and his wife Bekah, Bobby; and
her great grandchildren, Sidney, Maverick, Kashton, and Kearce.
The world is a better place because she was here.
Services will be held at Macedonia Moravian Church on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Zach Dease officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to Macedonia Moravian Church would be appreciated.

Shelby Jean Simmons Gregory, of Advance, passed away peacefully December 21, 2022 at Kate B.
Reynolds Hospice Home at the age of 86. Shelby was born March 22, 1936 to Augustus Caney Simmons
and Maggie Mae Nelson Simmons in Francisco, NC (Stokes County). With a 19-23 year span between
her and her two siblings, Shelby was truly the baby of the family. Anyone who knows Shelby is very
familiar with her generosity and character. The love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was
particularly evident. Raised on a tobacco farm, it seemed fitting that she worked for 24 years at RJ
Reynolds (1975-1998); before retiring to become, as she would say, a full time "Grammy".
Shelby is survived by her two children, Winona Gregory Dunn and Carey Gregory (LeAnn), as well as her
five grandchildren: Dylan leper (Jess), Connor Robertson, Lydia Gregory, Logan Gregory, and Ella
Gregory. Shelby is also survived by her nieces Patsey Simmons Bateman (Ken), Judy Simmons
Motsinger (Steve), Doris Pyrtle Peeler, Linda Simmons, and special family members Stacey Motsinger
Clous, Marley Motsinger O'Neill, Lee Peeler Canterbury, J. Peeler, Andy Simmons. Alton Simmons, and
Jacinda Frieze.
Shelby is preceded in death by her mother and father, along with her brother, Hayes Thomas Simmons
and sister-in-law Lillie Flippin Simmons; her sister Elsie Simmons Pyrtle and brother-in-law Leo Pyrtle; her
niece Daisy Pyrtle Frieze, and special family members Ray Sutphin, Mike Peeler, Wade Simmons, Kecia
Frieze Wyman, and James Harold (Bub) Gregory.
Shelby was a woman of strong faith and was a member of Farmington Baptist Church. Shelby was also a
proud member of the Red Hat Society where she accomplished many community outreach projects. Just
a few of her hobbies and interests included NASCAR (specifically the late Dale Earnhardt), sewing and
embroidery, gardening/yard work, cheering for the Atlanta Braves, and outdoor/wildlife watching. Through
the years, many have also benefited from her exceptional cooking skills.
Though we certainly mourn her passing, we stand in full assurance of the gift of eternal life she has
received in Jesus Christ. What she embraced in faith here on earth has become fully realized in ail the
joys of heaven she is now experiencing (I Corinthians 13:12).
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 27th, 2022 at Farmington Baptist Church
with Pastor Phillip Brande officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am prior to the
service. Interment will follow at Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to Farmington Baptist Church or Operation Christmas Child at
samaritanspurse.org. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com

Road, surrounded by peach orchards and lots of outdoors where imaginations had room to develop and
grow! Jerri's brilliant mind allowed her to easily hold her own in any conversation! Name a subject? She
knew about it! She could make you "laugh 'til you either roll on the floor or pee your pants or both" with her
incredible sense of humor that often involved her picking her guitar and singing those hilarious "Revenge
Songs" that she wrote! She was never afraid to speak OR sing her mind! She loved a stage and a good
audience! A beautiful and fearless woman, she proved that she could do about anything, such as being a
long-haul trucker for awhile, or competing in Women's Big Bass Tournaments everywhere (and out-fishing
anyone back home); or owning her own hair styling businesses! She knew she could do it, so she did
it! She retired after many years in her profession as a Master Hair Stylist, Colorist and Designer to enjoy
doing things with no schedule! As a super-talented artist, she created so many gorgeous paintings. She
was a natural interior decorator, placing loveliness all around her. Her warm demeanor, vibrant
personality, infectious laugh, and an undeniable love of life drew people to her. She had so many friends,
but her favorite was her best bud, Tonya!. She was also a songwriter with her sister and adventure buddy,
Linda (also known in the music business as Linne Black) and together, they had many bluegrass songs
signed by a major song publishers in Nashville! But, most important to her was being a mother, and she
was the best one you could ever imagine! With her own loving dedication and loyalty, Terri raised her
family to be kind to others and always do the right thing. She planted goodness in them by being their
role model. Life was a struggle at times, but she pulled them through with hugs, laughter, determination
and hard work! If she couldn't find the way, she'd make her own way! Always optimistic, she lived her life
with grace and open arms, and she was at her happiest being near her kids. Her favorite times were spent
at the beach with her family, or camping the New River, traveling with them to any place as long as they
were together. She also loved the outdoor gatherings at Jimmy and Cheri's beautiful place, and spending
weeks at Charlie and Reba's mountain home with them, and the special time spent with Lori in the lovely
home they shared in Jerri's last few months..So left many wonderful times to remember! Jerri's family
was legacy! She gave unselfishly of her whole heart; they were her darlings, her main priority, and gentle
bonds were maintained closely with each one. She nurtured her children, the grandchildren, then the
great grandchildren, loving and teaching young William and Kaydence while building up memories for
them to keep. She was so in love with new baby Oakley, but only got to be with her few times before
illness intervened. Her family adored her beyond measure..she was their center, their rock and queen
bee, their matriarch and loving arms, their advice and shoulder, their best friend, their mother, grandma,
great-granny, and sister... If you were lucky enough to have been loved by this Heart of Gold, you knew
you were truly loved Left to cherish her too-beautiful-for-this-life memory are her three beloved
children: David Charles Ellis (Reba), Lori Angela McCuiston (Barry) and Cheri McCuiston Barringer
(Jimmy). Five grandchildren: David Channing Ellis (Kira), Megan Barringer, Katy Howard, Jack Barringer,
and Hannah Gaddy. Three great-grandchildren: Kaydence, William and baby Oakley. Three siblings:
Linda Black Boles (Bill), Donald George Black Jr (Rebecca) and Lewis Dean Black (Linda), six nieces and
nephews, eleven great-nieces and nephews, plus several aunts and uncles, many cousins, and friends
galore.. Private family services with be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Advance
Fire and Rescue, 1869 NO Hwy 801 S, Advance, NO 27006
Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com The family would like to thank the diligent
Novant Cardiologists, Dr. Turner, Dr. Preli, and Dr. Wilson who worked so hard to save Terri's life.. Plus
the dedicated Cardiology ICU staff who were so helpful and kind to us and our loved one ..

Lynn Abemethy
December 26, 1945 ^ December 27. 2022 (age 77)
We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved Lynn Wilson Abemethy on Tuesday, following
his 77th birthday. Being a faithful man in all aspects of life, holding love, joy, patience, and kindness. He
fought valiantly for three years to enjoy every moment he could with his wife, Andrea, and his family. After
retiring from Tyco Electronics of 38 years, he enjoyed spending time playing golf with his many friends at
Oak Valley Golf Course, tinkering with many gidgets and gadgets having a cup of hot coffee with that big
smile of his radiating the room. If anything was broken he was the man who knew how to fix it, whether
being tangible or spiritual in nature. He will forever be remembered by his wife and his children Nathaniel,
Michelle, and Heidi. His wit, humor, and gentlemanly nature will undoubtedly be touted as hallmarks in the
many remembrances of his life.

Hal William Misenheimer
October 26,1934 - December 31, 2022
r
Davie County Public Library _
Mocksville, NU
In the early afternoon hours of December 31, 2022, Hal Misenheimer enjoyed two Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a few
sips of whiskey, and his final episode of Gun Smoke. That evening, this modern-day cowboy quietly succumbed to
the slings and arrows of cancer and dementia. By his side, and holding his hands, were his wife and daughter.
Shortly before passing, he told them both that he was "ready to go home". It is tough to imagine a better way to exit
this earth.

For 88 years, those close to the man thought he was indestructible. Hal had previously survived a heart attack, an
unknown illness that left him non-responsive for days, and a fight with a Freightliner truck. Through it all, he never
admitted to having a bad day, rarely admitted to feeling pain, and simply refused to complain. Hal was tougher than
any of those cowboys depicted in the westerns he loved to watch.
Hal initially made a living as a butcher, and then as a truck driver. Though not a doctor, he doled out "medical"
advice every now and then. One such occasion stands out above the rest. After fishing with his grandson one
morning, Hal was cleaning the catch when he suffered what some call a "catfish sting" (one of the fins punctured
his hand). The pain lasted for days. When he could no longer deny that the wound was infected, Hal reluctantly
agreed to see a professional. However, upon reaching the hospital he continued to argue that "the fuss" was
unnecessary and maintained that he was only present to appease his wife. A well-trained physician decided that
Hal was suffering from cellulitis, a rare complication from handling catfish. Antibiotic treatment was ordered.
However, Hal initially refused and claimed that the good doctor was just "running up the bill" (a criticism that he
often levied against the medical profession). Hal further explained that the prescribed treatment was simply not
necessary in this case, because immediately after the injury occurred, he had "rubbed the wound on the fish's
***hole" (apologies for the language, but that is what he said). Through the laughter, Hal persisted in claiming that
this treatment was sufficient. The men reached a stalemate and the doc left the room. Shortly thereafter he
returned to admit that he had researched the matter and determined that rubbing the wound on the underbelly of
the catfish may have actually conveyed some benefit. Nevertheless, the order for antibiotics remained in place. Hal
reluctantly complied.
Fishing, hunting and gardening were just a few of Hal's favorite hobbies. He made a mean cheese dip. No holiday
meal was complete without a side of "papaw's slaw". Hal was an avid NASCAR fan. At age 77, he even climbed into a
race car and pushed the limits of common sense by reaching 130 mph on the straightaway at Charlotte Motor
Speedway. That day he seemed to summon a much younger version of himself who years ago had raced
motorcycles on the beach. During calmer moments, Hal thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in
horse shows and ball games. He became zen-like when working in his raised beds, which were among the best in
the county.
Need a sunroom built on the back of the house? Hal could do that. He worked on minor construction projects into
his 80's. In fact, for his 80th birthday he was gifted a ladder. Bet you don't know many octogenarians that are still
repairing roofs. Hal was that guy. He could fix your car, and your tractor too. He enjoyed the work. It's a good thing,
because most of his repairs were accompanied by an unintentional mishap - which required additional repair.
Through it all, no one ever caught him googling a "how to" video or reading an instruction manual of any kind.
Somehow, he just knew what to do, or he figured it out. Chalk it up to a breadth of life experience.
Hal loved to talk politics, though he never met an honest politician. He would say "they are all out to screw the
working man". Likewise, lawyers weren't to be trusted - v^th perhaps one exception (perhaps). He valued hard
work and honesty. We could use more like him.
Hal did not want a funeral, or ceremony of any kind. He often joked that his body should be "donated to science".
Perhaps the "scientists" should take a closer look. If his energy could somehow be bottled and sold, the world
would be a better place.
Hal was dearly loved by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Casey; son-in-law, Chad; granddaughter, Lucy; grandson. Wade;
and many more. He will be missed and mourned. But today, please join us in celebrating the incredible life of Hal
Misenheimer.
