He was pronounced dead onarrival at 6:40 p.m. at Davie CountyHospital.Hamilton was storing hay with hiswife, father, brother and a neighborwhen a thunderstorm came ucHamilton .was reported to have justopened a metal gate when the rainstarted.The groi'p heard a crack ofthunder. Mrs. Hamilton, who wascarrying an umbrella, was knockeddown. The umbrella was knockedfrom her hand and she screamed.After the group found that Mrs.Hamiiton was unharmed theylooked for Hamilton and found himlying about 15 feet fron. tne metalgale. Hamilton was no: breathing,his brother said.The brother said that nobody sawHamilton when he was struck anddid not know if he had his hand onthe metal gate. Efforts to revivehim during the trip to the hospitalwere unsuccessful.Hamilton worked m the maintenance department for the R.J.Reynolds Tobacco Co, and was apart-time farmer who raised cowsand strawberries.The funeral was held Mondayatternoon at the Jerusalem Bapiis:Church.
