Burial was in Center United MelhodlBt Church Ccntetcry. Mr. Etkins was the son of John R. and Mattie Harris EUkins. He was educated in Wtnstoa-Salcm city schools and attended Rutha'ford and Eton Colleges. He was employed in the Winston-Salero Post Office and later worked for Standard and Shell Oil Companies in the early 40's. He moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed In the U.S. Treasury Department and transferr^ lo the U.S. Post Office In Spencer, N.C. from which he retired In 1958. Ho joined Burkhead United Methodist Church in Winston- Salem at an early age and was very active tn church work. After moving to Spencer, he joined Central United Mefhodist Church. Ho was a member of Wlnston-Salem Lodge 1B7 for more than 50 years. While residing in WInslm- Salcm bo served two terms on the Board of Aldermen. He resided in Salisbury before moving lo Mocksviile in 1979. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church In Mocktvilio and is survived by hb wife Mrs. Bernice Powell EIDUns, whom he married March 22.
