The Yodkin Circuit was established in I78O, Andrew Yeargnn wqS appointed preacher. The first meetinghouse built in the circuit was deal's Meetinghouse or chnpel built in 1780. therefore the oldest Methodist Church in this part of North *^arolinQo This meeting house was near Hunting Creek miles northwest of the present town of Mocksville, "^avie County. In C'tober 1799 Bishop Asbury and "^esse -Cee , visiting churches in the Yadkin Circuit, preached at Be^iis on the 3c£ik*x l6j5ho "Jesse Lee discourcsed on the word of the Lord as a fire and a hammer". "I added a few words on '-^'ake heed how ye ^ear, whom ye hear, what doctri ye hear." ( Asbury's Journal ) Asbury goes on to say that they c rossed Hunting Creek on their way to Iredell County. It was located north of Hunting Creek, near Anderson's Bridge, in the northwestern part of the present Davie County and probably established by Andrew Yeargan.
