I Library Board of Trustees:
We the undersigned, citizens of Davie County and members of a group known
as the Piano Committee, hereby petition the Library Board of Trustees to
authorize a campaign to raise (Six Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety dollars)
$6,890.00 to purchase the Baldwin seven foot grand piano which is on
loan for the summer in the Library.
This instrument is being used for a series of summer concerts which are
open to the public free of charge. It is our desire that this instrument
be provided for continued use for programs by local and visiting artists,

The Davie County Public Library is a department of Davie County government. All
personnel and financial policies set by the county.
In North Carolina there are two types of library boards of trustees: governing and advisory.
The Davie County Public Library Board is advisory. The Board has no legal responsibilities
except those granted by the County Commissioners. The Board acts as a liaison between the
library, local government, and the community. The Board sets library specific policies, promotes
services, and seeks adequate funding for the operation of the library system. Regular meetings
are the third Thursday of July, September, November, January, March, and May. Current
trustees: Valerie Slogick, chair; Harlon Freeman, vice -chair; Alice Brown, secretary, Linda
Barnette, George Peterson, Jim ny Myers, Kathy Tatum Crews.
In North Carolina there are county libraries, municipal libraries, and regional libraries (multi -
county libraries). Some of the county libraries are independent of county government. We
adhere to the regulations to be "State Aid" libraries.
DCPL Board of Trustees are
- appointed by the commissioners upon recommendation from the Trustees
