August 21, 1981
Mr. Fred Allen
Route 7, Box 253
Mocksville, N. C. 27028
Dear Mr. Allen;
The purpose of this letter is to confirm our conversation of August 21,
1981, with regard to your septic tank system. We are enclosing drawings
illustrating the procedure for installing earthen dams and the required
step-downs which are recommended for correcting the excessive fall in your
septic tank lines.
Mr. D. Y. McBrayer, R.S. , District Sanitarian, State Division of Health
Services, informed us that a septic tank line with excessive fall of over two
feet in 40 running feet would not be expected to function satisfactorily for
any given period of time. The line you had with inspection points open had
a fall of 27 3/4" from the Y to the last inspection point open. This would
indicate a fall in excess of three feet in the 65 running feet of line. We
are hopeful that you understand the„ necessity for holding the effluent in^ all
portions of the linein order for it to function satisfactorily and be absorbed
in the soil.” Excessive fall in septic tank lines will result in the sewage
effluent running to the end of the line and the hydraulic pressure causing
the effluent to surface and the system to malfunction.
Should you not understand or have any question. regarding our recommen-
dations, please feel free to contact us. We regret your• inconvenience and
misunderstanding:
Sincerely,
gee
Joe Mando
