Mr. Nate Foster: When first married, they lived upstairs in a big, two-story, old frame building.
Quakers held Church & a school in downstairs auditorium. Up stairs also lived some students & quaker
teacher. Eunice Dardin, a teacher.
Dewitt Foster went to school there, was converted and was sent to Guilford College by Quakers.
David Sampson (was) a preacher there.
Mrs. Pierce Foster born in old house in 1901. Professor Hodges conducted a school in a brick
or building near his home. There was much jealousy and feuding between the two schools and Quakers
Y finally gave up and moved out and left. Hodges, she thinks, bought the place and used it for a storage
place or barn until it burned. The Fosters joined the Quaker Church but after its end, they went back to

Dear Friends
Your letter to the. librarian of Guilford Col-
lege was refered to us. -We have done some research
in the records in the vault, and we are not able to
firm very much information relative to the (Maker
church in the Fork com wu nity and Augusta community.
We did, however, find that the Augusta church
was established August 27, 1898. We learned that
the Dutchman's Creek meeting in the Fork community
joined with the meeting in August on July 12, 1902.
The records do not continue much longer thereafter.
These two mission churches never did become regular
organized monthly meetings.
Ed _,,,Of the two individuals that you mention (Miss
Annie -.and David Sampson), firs. Annie Wil-
liams is still living. Also, David Sampson's wife,
Mrs. Sally Sampson, is now a resident of the
Guilford College community.
