For her many years of service in documenting and preserving local history,
including
Serving as the Advance correspondent for the Davie County Enterprise Record since 1958;
Serving as the historian for the Advance United Methodist Church since 1979; compiling and
publishing the Advance United Methodist Church Cemetery book in 1995;
Assisting Kirk Mohney in an inventory of historic homes and buildings in Advance for his 1986
book, Historic Architecture of Davie County of N.C.;
Preparing and submitting the application for the J.E.B. Shutt House to be included on the
National Register of Historic Places in 1996;
Serving on the Davie County Heritage book committee in 1997;
Authoring Professional ledgers of John Edward Bell Shutt, woodcraftsman and undertaker,
Shady Grove township, Advance, North Carolina in 2000.
